School: Silver Sands Middle School, Port Orange, FL
Planned By: Bonnie Sagraves
Original Author: Bonnie Sagraves, Port Orange
Students will be performing stories which they have made up, using science concepts they are learning. The stories will be performed to the ESE students that are reading below middle school level.

The goal of this lesson is to get the ESE students interested in reading and to indrocuec science concepts in a fun and exciting new way. Thsi project not only helps the ESE students, but it also challenges my gifted/advanced students to use higher level thinking skills when incorportaing science into their stories. Books will be purchased for each ESE student for them to enjoy on their own time.

The giveted/advance students are in need of a challenging way to use higher level thinking skills. These students will be doing that by incorporating science with reading. This is a vary challenging activity that will benefit them in reading, science and on our state test!

Students will be placed in teams of 4-6 in order to collaberate on their story and the intergration of science concepts. Students will participate in the podcasting of their stories to be shared with the ESE students.
Comments
I teach gifted/advanced students and I am always look for new and exciting ways to challenge them. Our school does not know how to do podcasting and I am hoping that this grant will benefit not only my students, but the rest of the school as well.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Students can do a play substituting hystorical information or math concepts.
Follow-Up
Students can teach a lesson by doing a rap or song instead of a play.
