School: West Ward Elementary School, Allegan, MI
Planned By: Laura Sullivan
Original Author: Laura Sullivan, Allegan
1. Students will listen to the teacher read "Rabbit and Hare Divide an Apple" by Harriet Ziefert. Students will make predictions and discuss the book.

2. Students will watch a lesson on educreations on fractions (http://www.educreations.com/lesson/view/fractions-on-a-number-line-and-chart/886897/). Teacher will then follow up with a review of fractions.

3. Students will use the iPads to take pictures of fractions around the school and/or at home. (iPads will not be allowed to go home but pictures may be taken at home and emailed to the teacher's account.) Examples include half of a sandwich, fraction of girls and boys in the classroom, recipes, fraction of a pizza, etc.

4. Using the iPads, students will use their knowledge of fractions to create a lesson/presentation in educreations to show what they know about fractions - what they are and examples of fractions in the real world. They will identify why the object represents a fraction and the actual fraction.

5. Students will present their educreations to the class.

Comments
The opportunities with iPads are endless. This is one lesson plan to represent one possibility with using iPads.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
iPads can be used for so much more. Students can use them for writing and publishing stories. They can use them for reading stories. They can create movie trailers about history. These can be used in every academic area. There are apps to work on any skill imaginable.
Follow-Up
Students can present their educreations to others. They could also author a book on fractions.
