Original Author: Kim Seiler, Palmerton
8th grade students will be studying American history including Philadelphia history. We will take a field trip visiting historical sights in Philadelphia that we discuss in class. Students will work in groups and take pictures with digital cameras while on the field trip. Pictures should include places, people, important sights, and anything else they think is relevant to the topic discussed. The students will then work together using Tool Factory software to edit, enhance, and manipulate their pictures to create a powerpoint presentation that they can then present to the school. Students will be responsible for discussing the pictures, the information and history related to the picture and why it's important. Our students love to use technology whenever possible and this lesson would really motivate them to find good pictures and connect what they have learned.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
Would love to have digital cameras to help create a yearbook, or digital yearbook. Our school only has 2 (outdated) cameras.
