Yearbook/Newspaper/Journalism Students share the same space.

Yearbook
Yearbook students will create a concept/theme for a yearbook.
Yearbook students will market the yearbook to the student body.
Yearbook students will sell ads to offset the cost of the yearbook for students.
Yearbook students will take pictures of every club, sport, organization and student life of the school.
Yearbook students will process those pictures and create a digital layout complete with captions and stories about each of these events, clubs, sports, and organizations.
Yearbook students will then sell the yearbook to students.
Yearbook students also create digital content that will be stored on QR codes to add digital content to the yearbook.

Newspaper
Newspaper students will learn to report the news of the school and create an online newspaper.
Newspaper site is www.mchinews.com.
Newspaper students will learn to write, report, and create the newspaper.
Newspaper students will also report events and news live on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Journalism students will learn the basics of news media. They will learn all the ins and outs of creating all the different news media sites.
Comments
Our program receives no funding from any source. We are without computers, cameras, and technology. We use borrowed materials from other groups and are in need of our own space. This year the program has doubled in size with more interest growing from student body. As the program continues to expand we need our own space and computer lab.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
We are the ultimate and original project based learning activity. We create a yearbook from scratch. The students design it, create it, market it, sell it and produce it. This encompasses technology, writing, photography, marketing, business management, advertising, and design.

The newspaper and yearbook highlight all the different clubs, organizations, sports and activities going on in our high school and community.
