Grades 5 through 8
School: Fairview Elementary School, Milwaukee, WI
Planned By: Dani Hassforth
Original Author: Dani Hassforth, Milwaukee
Students will begin by outlining important events in their life in chronological order. Students will collect pictures they own to add to their project. Existing photos will be scanned and new pictures will be taken with digital cameras. Students will choose music from i-tunes and include their voice using Garage band to accompany their autobiography. Autobiographies will be burned onto a DVD for students to keep and share with their family. This is a unique way to complete an autobiography without writing it as a report. Students are motivated and are amazed at how well their projects turn out. Families love the end result. This is a great project to invite parents into the classroom to see.
Follow-Up
Students could follow up by creating a biography using the same technology.
