Technology Procedures: Teacher: Be sure to review the selected software before beginning this project. Spend 2-3 days teaching the software. Use a projector to demonstrate how to use the software. Review basic camera and imaging skills. Give students time to practice these skills.
Writing Procedures: Teacher will review the steps of the writing process. Show examples of stories that relate to classroom material. Examples: Skittles Riddles Math by Barbara Barbieri McGrath , M&Ms Brand Chocolate Candies Math by Barbara Barbieri McGrath and Roger Glass
Teacher and students will brainstorm ideas for their story. Students will write their stories on paper before going to the computer. Students will type and edit their story. Students will come up with ideas for their pictures to illustrate their story. Students will use cameras to take pictures. Have the students take pictures in the classroom, at home or around campus. (Teacher should review the photographs.) Teacher and students will upload images to the computer for editing. Students will edit photos and add them to their storybook. Students will print and bind their story. Students will create a short presentation using PowerPoint, Keynote or Photo Story. Students will present their work to the class.
Assessment: Create a rubric to evaluated the students presentations and completed story books Teacher observations during the process and the presentations. |
