Students today thrive on technology. They use whatever technology they have to creatively access resources and tools available to all populations. Every type of resource such as fiction and non-fiction text, manipulatives, encyclopedias, primary/secondary sources can be located at the tip of their fingers. The 21st Century tools they need to navigate their education and upcoming work career are learned through interaction with tech devices.

Now, we test our children through technology with the new standardized tests of CMAS, PARCC and MAP. It is not possible to make tech-based-standardized testing equitable to all students without students learning and practicing with these tools. They need to learn to type, research and manage tech devices the way they are required to do during testing.

With a class set of Chromebooks, I can help prepare students for academic success, while also arming them with 21st Century skills for society and the workplace.
