Help my students get high quality technology to empower them to achieve their goals! Central High School in Bridgeport is lacking the quality technology that my students need to succeed. Their current Chromebooks are barely functioning and do not allow students to access the tools they need to build their reading and writing skills. Our school-wide goal build students evidence based writing skills. I have developed a year-long assignment that requires students to research social-justice issues and use their writing skills to advocate against those problems. Currently, students are struggling to use basic research tools and Google Documents due to failing technology. My goal is to empower my students to stand up for issues in their community by researching, writing advocacy pieces (both creative and analytic) and multimedia projects. By helping raise funds for my students, you will be helping them create a real-world final project that can positively influence their communities, their self-advocacy, and build them a pathway to a great future.

Why I Teach: I live by the quote "be who you needed when you were younger". As a student who struggled tremendously in high school, both inside and outside of school, I believe that teachers are the advocates and role models that inspire their students to achieve more than they see possible for themselves. I would not have made it to college or be the person I am today without the encouragement of my past teachers. I teach for my past self, to help my present students, with the hopes of making future leaders.
