IPODS will be used to not only assess students but for students to create I-Movies about their learning. Students will use I-Movie Maker to demonstrate prior knowledge in their understanding of genetics. This will be the first lesson in heredity and genetics. Students will take still images of a classmate and themselves and explain "Why do we have different colored eyes". Students will then record their reasoning. This will serve as a formative assessment for planning instruction. As students are engaged in investigations to help them better understand genetics they will update their I-Movie. Their final portion of their video will be used as a summative assessment. Using IMovies on Ipods will engage students at a new level and tap into their visual arts talents.
