As a special education teacher of nonverbal students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), I have done quite a bit of research and have spoken with several Speech Pathologists regarding the benefits of an iPad with students on the spectrum. I know that an iPAD could greatly help my students achieve their IEP goals as well increase communication engagement, Speech/ language development, social skills, and daily living skills. There are hundreds of applications specifically developed for children with special needs (like Nova Chat 7, Conversation Builder, TV Teacher, Story Builder, music apps, etc.). I have seen how this tool can enhance learning and I am eager to help my students achieve success with this innovative piece of technology.
