Our school's TV & Video Productions class (MBC) uses digital video equipment and editing tools to produces a school-wide live TV broadcast. We also have one iPad that we use to capture video. This has become our most popular device. Students work in teams and patiently wait their turn to use the iPad for their video project. The iPad has many qualities, it's ease of use, it's ability to replay footage, and it's editing capabilities has made it our most popular device. We would like to add 3 or more iPads as tools in our classroom.
The process of creating a meaningful feature story begins with developing a story. Students first brainstorm ideas, then storyboard their story including detailed information, such as, dialog, location, and camera angles. Using the storyboard as a guide each team of 2-5 students begin filming. Students then download video shots & edit the video using iMovie. These feature stories are then aired in our live broadcast news program. Our audience of 1300 students and staff, eagerly watch the student run live broadcast.
The iPads we are requesting will not only help our students in the video productions program, the feature stories they produce will affect ALL our students by creating a positive school culture.

Classroom Description: I teach an array of technology classes. My 6th graders learn basic applications using Google Apps and keyboarding, I have a general computer class for 7th and 8th graders, I teach desktop publishing, graphic design, photograpy, and photoshop while creating a yearbook in one class, and my favorite of the bunch is my video productions classes. These two classes of 78 students create feature videos to air during our daily student run live newscast for our school.
