This fundraiser is for a set of mini ipads for my classroom. My students have intellectual disabilities, down syndrome being the main disability, which is often paired with varying types of physical limitations. Ipads are great learning tools giving my students better access to appropriate, grade level content. Ipads are also motivational for my students. I currently use my iphone to project the apps on the wall so that the entire class can be involved in the lesson. This teaching strategy was part of my Teacher of the Year Application, for which I won for my local school. I would like to have a class set (8) ipads for individual students to have access to. My students argue and fuss to use my iphone which is actually too small for them to use accurately. Their individual occupational needs limit their hand eye coordination, therefore needing a larger screen.
