School: St Anne School, Sumter, SC
Planned By: Leah Kiernan
Original Author: Leah Kiernan, Sumter
Each student will choose one of their favorite authors of short stories read in Literature. In the computer lab, the students will research their author, find an address to write a letter of appreciation to their author, and write the letter. The next day, students will find short stories online written by the author, try to learn when they wrote the story and any background information on it, and read that short story. The third day, the student will think of a main character, setting, and situation in which to place his character, and begin a short story mimicking the style of his favorite author. Students will perfect their short stories on day four, and share them with the class on day five.
Comments
As I type, I cannot see any of the complete letters on the page. Some do not appear at all. I don't know if this is a glitch with this program, or the fault of my laptop screen. Our shcool has only five current computers in our computer lab, which makes it difficult to do a class project on computers.
