Students will be combing mathematics to fitness activities. By using the mathematic connections, students will be able to explain the changes in their fitness levels using mathematic terms, such as slope, rate of change, increase and decrease. They will use conversions to compare rates.

Students will get a baseline of their fitness levels with a complete fitness screening - push ups, sit ups, squats - in 30 seconds, mile run. They will record their results. Video of their efforts will be analyzed by the students to critique and analyze their abilities and form.

Every week students will chart their results and begin creating a graph. As the graph chanegs, they will be able to discuss their rate of change, citing lines of best fit, slopes, and y-intercept.

Using stopwatches and digital video students will be able to calculate various data. The of wearable technology would allow students to get their running distances, speeds, and average speeds. They will compare this with their hand and paper and pencil results. These speeds will be compared to their previous results, as well as major known speeds (Cheetah, Olympiaians, etc.)

When students realize that their results are beginning to plateau, with little or no change, we will begin to discuss how to change their training to improve.

In the end, students will write their own conclusions about how to plan an exercise program for a friend. They will cite their own data to shape their own plans.
