School: Rochester Middle School, Rochester, IN
Planned By: Tristan Wilson
Original Author: Tristan Wilson, Rochester
The ZBN was an idea formulated by the kids and then ran with. Jobs are assigned to every student in the class. For example, General Anchor, Weather Anchor, Sports Anchor, Reporter, Camera Technician, Editors, Directors, and photographers. All of these jobs will require the students to work in teams and other groups to complete the final project. The directors of the show make a set list and the kids follow who goes when. Each group needs to be sure their job is done and the other groups encourage them to get it done. The working of lighting, cameras, and editing is the biggest struggle to teach the students how to work the equipment properly but the skills learned will last. This lesson is giving authentic learning at the level I haven't seen before.
