Class Description:
This year is my first opportunity at teaching a Kindergarten class. I have taught 3 years previous at grades 1 and 2 but am new to the Kindergarten excitement. I have come back to teach in my hometown and have found a wonderful group of kiddos just ready to be pushed, pulled, molded, and challenged. We are a class of 7 boys and 9 girls, aging from 5-6. 2 of our students are ESL Spanish speaking students, 2 are classified homeless, 6 come from split family homes, 5 are classified At-Risk, 5 are on IEP's, and all 16 are eager and excited to learn. We are in the beginning stages of reading and have 4th grade reading buddies come and work with us every other Friday. Our 2nd grade friends come in and help tutor one on one with our class everyday as well. We have a community member volunteer once a week to share crafts and read stories. And our parents come in and assist in the classroom once a week to once a month. We have a very activity classroom. We are always on the move and enjoying the faced paced lessons of Kindergarten.

Employment History:
I have worked for USD 405 for 3 years and USD 327 currently. During college I worked for USD 489 in the afterschool program and breakfast program.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because it is my passion, my call. It is the reason I get up bright and early and work all day through. Children are the foundation of what's to come. And I am helping to lay the bricks to that future. I couldn'd ask for a more self rewarding profession.
