I live in rural Arkansas and we have had a recent cultural explosion in our small town of less than 3,500. From less than 1% Hispanic in 2000 to 53% Hispanic in 2010. Our school is striving hard to stay on the cutting edge of education with technology, resources, and new and up-to-date exemplary teaching practices.
College and Degrees:
I have a master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) which helps me in teaching my Hispanic students English as I teach them math too.
Favorite Books:
I love young reader authors, Richard Peck and Ann Rinaldi. Some books I've read that impacted me: "Chosen by a Horse" by Susan Richards, "Lessons From a Sheep Dog" by Phillip Keller, "I Have Lived a Thousand Years" by Livia Bitton Jackson.
Favorite Quotes:
"A teacher affects eternity; she can never tell where her influece stops." ~Henry Brooks Adams
Interests:
I am a hobby cake decorator also. I also love animals!
Employment History:
I have worked for the Danville Public School System for 12 years. Before I went back to school to become a teacher I was employed as a legal secretary for a deputy prosecutor. I wanted to make a difference by going directly to the front lines. That's where I've been for my entire career as a teacher, in the classroom trying to make a difference.
