Golden Hills Elementary School
Class Information:
Room Number: B4
Students per Class: from 20 to 32
Class Description:
Our school is an 'intervention' school. That means that Every student gets an individualized program and switches classes throughout the day. I have from as little as 20 in my reading/language arts class to 32 in my math class. Not many of my students have computers and even fewer have internet access. Many have video game consoles to play with, but near to none have equipment for producing work and learning to surf the wave of the future.
Position:
teacher
Needs:
Our class is lucky enough to have a digital camera and a camcorder, but more are needed to effectively integrate technology instruction throughout the day. I received a FlipVideo for Christmas and realized the potential they hold for expanding our program and all I'd love to be doing with my students. We also really need a microphone for our existing camcorder, and a tripod too.
My Philosophy:
One of the biggest challenges facing teachers today is getting the kids motivated. Every child can learn, but not every child wants to. When you integrate technology into your lesson, not only does it wake them up and engage them, you are teaching valuable skills they will need to live in our digital world. Many of my students have no other access to technology than in our classrooms, so the more we can provide, the better off their lives will be.
Personal Information:
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love to help kids to learn and grow into the best person they can be. And there's nothing better than helping a child get to that Ah-ha moment when something finally clicks! Goosebumps AND a paycheck? That's why I teach! :-)
