Garden Lakes Elementary School
Hometown:
Colorado Springs
Class Information:
Room Number: G8
Students per Class: 140
Class Description:
I teach 8th grade reading and writing. My class is ran in a workshop model, where the student read in book circles and peer-edit in groups. Students receive time to read and write in class with my help and peer-assisted as well. I think technology helps this process along allowing my students to publish their book reviews and writing. Further, technology gives my students access to information that I would not be able to provide in my classroom.
Position:
8th grade Language Arts
Needs:
My school has no technology at all. I have been slowly purchasing and things on my own. In addition, I have written several grants to help with the cost. I think the most beneficial piece of technology for my classroom the clickers and a wacom pen tab. The clickers are agreat time-saver and give students immediate feedback on their answers. In addition, we read and mark up text so much it would be extremely beneficial for my students to be able to following along with a clear step by step visual with the pentab.
My Philosophy:
Education to me is a basic human right, every individual deserves the best education we can possibly give them and deserves access to that education
