I teach Exceptional Student Education/Inclusion. My classrooms are diverse in nature because I have a combination of regular education students and higher functioning special education students. On average I have approximately a 50/50 mix or regular education and students that are served by 504 or Individual Education Plans.
Position:
Assistant Principal
Needs:
My classroom is in desperate need of up to date technology. Specifically a SMART board, with SMART board projector and a classroom set of tablets for my students to be able to access the SMART board during lessons.
My Philosophy:
I have been a parks planner, a member of the Army National Guard and a professional firefighter. I came to teaching after these jobs because I felt I could do more for society by helping to educate the youth of this country. I look at each pupil as a person with no label and try to instill the ideas of hard work, tolerance and reaching for their goals.
My students know that I have an open door policy and that I understand their is more to education than simply teaching. I have become my students mentor, friend, educator and parental role model in some instances. I feel as though I am on the front lines of preparing our youth for the future and I feel there is no better place than the school I am at to open minds, encourage and push these students to be more than they think they can be in life.
Personal Information:
Why Do I Teach?:
I choose to work with underprivileged students in elementary school because I cannot see how the status quo is acceptable. I would want the same for my children if I was in my students shoes. I whole heatedly believe that the student is above all else and nothing but success is acceptable.
