East Side High School
Class Information:
Room Number: 313
Students per Class: 60
Class Description:
I teach 3 different classes: English IV (British Lit), Journalism 2 and Journalism 3.
Position:
English Teacher
Needs:
I am one of those teachers that tries really hard to incorporate technology into my classes. One huge need is a multimedia projector which is in short stock and high demand at the school.
My Philosophy:
I think that students today need access to every possible resource available. Technology is not going away and teachers need to embrace it.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am about to complete my fifth year of teaching at the high school level. However, I have been in 3 different departments: Bilingual, World Languages (Spanish), and now English. I love teaching English, but I also like the experience I've gained thus far.
College and Degrees:
I received my Bachelors degree from Rutgers, The State University of NJ in English and Spanish. I went on to receive a Masters degree in Administration and Supervision at St. Peter's College.
Activities:
Any "new" teacher will tell you that they don't have much time for leisure activities unless it involves working with students in extra curricular activities. However, I've gotten very good at relaxing during the weekends and leaving work at work.
Favorite Books:
Anything by William Shakespeare. Recently, however, a friend turned me on to "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. WOW!
Favorite Quotes:
Way too many...
Interests:
Reading, when time permits. I do have a stamp collection that has never really received the attention it deserves. And basically hanging out with friends.
Employment History:
Before teaching at the high school where I am now, I was an English teacher at a private language school for adults as well as their Education Coordinator. Before that, I worked in a restaurant during college.
Why Do I Teach?:
I have known that I was going to be a teacher since 4th grade. Some say it was my "calling."
