Rocky Ridge Elementary School
Class Information:
Students per Class: 60
Class Description:
My goal is to provide wireless keyboards for all three 2nd grade classroom at Rocky Ridge. We always plan for 20 students for each of the 3 classrooms. That would provide enough for each student, possible new students, and eventual replacement keyboards.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
Our school district supplies iPads and keyboards for all students from 3rd to 5th grade at Rocky Ridge. They require them for the yearly State SBA test beginning at 3rd grade. Unfortunately, our school does not provide formal keyboard training for the students. It is extremely stressful for our 3rd graders to gain adequate typing proficiency just before the test. This year, COVID prevented SBA testing. So, I borrowed a 3rd grade class set of keyboards to see if my 2nd graders could learn to type. It was a lovely success!! They used a simple online program and typed for a few minutes each day. By the end of the year, many of them could 10-finger type out a hand-written paragraph. It motivated them to write even more! Now, my goal is to prepare all of our 2nd graders with proficient typing skills that will support their efforts on class assignments, state tests throughout school, and beyond.
My Philosophy:
All kids can learn, grow, and achieve when they understand how important, exceptional, and un-limited they really are.
