Plymouth Canton High School
Class Information:
Room Number: C216
Students per Class: 175
Class Description:
Science Fiction Literature - created for people who do not like, or do well with, English class. It is populated with at-risk and special needs students, as well as students who simply hate the ridiculousness of English. Advanced Composition - a class for college-bound writers that focuses on skills needed to get into the university as well as thrive once they get there.
Position:
English Teacher
Needs:
Technology to properly train the students to be ready to learn at the next level in the Information Age we live in. Items like video and audio equipment, hand-held computers/PDAs and 24/7 Internet access for blogging and researching need to be daily trained so our students can compete and understand all that they will graduate into.
My Philosophy:
Let's move away from the Industrial Age model where we "look for defects in our production line products" and instead give our students tools, encouragement and techniques that allow them to show us what they CAN do instead of focusing on what they CAN'T.
Personal Information:
College and Degrees:
BA - Michigan State University - English/Psychology MA- Marygrove College - Teaching
Favorite Quotes:
"Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a fire" - WB Yeats

Travel, learning, reading, comedy
Why Do I Teach?:
English is a ridiculously difficult language to master; I would like to make it more accessible and fun to young people so that they can understand the power that words truly hold.
