Class Description:
I have 12 girls and 8 boys in my classroom. We have an "open" classroom that we share with a Kindergarten class (divided by 6 foot panels).
Position:
First Grade Teacher
Needs:
Our classroom is in great need of technology equipment. We need computers, a listening center, document camera, and e-readers/tablets.
My Philosophy:
My goal is to encourage all of my students to have fun while learning important life skills. I try to incorporate creative play, technology, and hands-on learning into every aspect of my curriculum. Students that are interested and actively engaged will learn more and be more successful in the classroom.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been married for 14 years and have 3 children. I was born in Florida but moved to North Carolina as a teenager. I joined the Air Force after high school. I returned to North Carolina after being stationed in California.
College and Degrees:
Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (K-6), Belmont Abbey College, Completed 2006 Current student in Masters of Education program, expected graduation June 2013.
Activities:
Drama Club
Favorite Books:
I like to read nonfiction books to learn new things about education, learning disabilities, and behavioral/mentaldisorders. I will read some light hearted fiction during summer break.
Interests:
Kayaking, painting, arts and crafts, reading
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I love to see children excited about learning. I love to learn new things, so as an educator, I have the opportunity to show children that learning can be fun.
