Class Description:
I have 2 classes of Spanish I and one of Spanish II. In addition to using computers and interactive whiteboard slates in the classroom, my students have used the Flip Video cameras.
Position:

Needs:
Wlith the closest Spanish population living 25 miles away, my students need the opportunities to practice speaking Spanish in real-life situations.
My Philosophy:
I try to make learning Spanish fun and enjoy incorporating technology into my teaching. I believe students learn more when actively engaged and try to develop projects that enable students to demonstrate their knowledge of Spanish as they complete real-life tasks.
Personal Information:
About Me:
While I have taught for 30 years, I am continually learning new things. In addition to being a Spanish teacher, I am the school Technology Specialist and integrate technology into my lessons on a regular basis. I love my "technology toys" and enjoy showing students how to use them in creating classroom projects. I believe that learning is a continual process and try to impart that to my students.
College and Degrees:
In addition to my undergraduate degree in Spanish, I have a degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. I also have a Master's Degree in Specific Learning Disabilities and additional certification in Gifted Education.
Activities:
In addition to teaching, I have engaged my students in sponsoring a Language and Cultural Fair each year for the last 15 years and have taken students on a Spanish Language & Cultural Immersion trip to a nearby major city for the last 3 years. I am the School Technology Specialist and have written grants to obtain technology improvements for my school since 1989. I am the song leader and organist in my church and sing the National Anthem at all home games. When I am not involved with my school I jog, sew, and write songs.

Interests:
Music and singing, jogging, sewing, reading, cooking, baking, taking pictures, creating Power Points of my pictures, creating cookbooks of my favorite recipes as gifts, technology, knitting, and learning new things.
Employment History:
While I have taught for the last 30 years in the same high school, my area has changed from special education to gifted education to Spanish and now, Spanish & Technology.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love speaking Spanish and coming up with creative activites to use the language both inside and out of the classroom. I also recognize the value of technology integration in the classroom and enjoy sharing my skills in technology with my students.
