Why I need this:
As an Early Childhood Special Educator and a classroom teacher of preschool students with special needs, I believe that IPADs could greatly help my students achieve success and enrich their unique minds. After fundraising for one IPad and being successful in less then 24 hours, I am hopeful that people will hear my story and help me raise enought money. To have a class set for all of my child to be able to access on a daily basis.
Through the use of an IPAD, I would be able to increase student engagement, promote language development, and facilitate academic readiness skills. I would be able to ensure that they have the technology necessary to help them achieve their Individual Education Plans.
There are hundreds of applications specifically developed for children with special needs. Some of the applications I have done research on include educational applications such as, ITouch Learn, Handwriting without Tears, TV Teacher, Story Builder, Conversation Builder, IStory, Social Stories, and many more. Each one of these educational applications will help increase student learning, engagement, as well as help prepare them for the innovate world that we live in. Many of my students are considered at-risk and do not have access to technology at home. By giving them exposure to learning through an IPAD, they would have the world at their fingertips. Literally. I have seen how this tool can affect learning and I am eager to help my students achieve success with this innovative piece of technology.
