I work with students with disabilities. Their disabilities include down syndrome, autism, di georges syndrome. We are in a very low income school district and our resources are very limited.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
My students needs vary. I believe that what they need and all that they really need is to feel a part of society. To feel loved, safe and to learn the things that directly affect their every day lives. I think they NEED supportive parents and a supportive classroom staff as well as supportive general ed teachers and students to really be successful.
My Philosophy:
I believe in my kids. I believe in updating your education every few years to stay fresh. I believe that teachers should be reevaluated to make sure they are still meeting the needs of their students. I ONLY used research based methods in my classroom and I love to try these research based things with my students and add to research. I believe in field trips to generalize what they learn in the classroom. I believe in classroom teacher, principal, parent and general education teacher collaboration. I believe in my kids, and love to see them reach their potential.
Personal Information:
College and Degrees:
I have my credential in Moderate to Severe Disabilities
My level 2 credential
I have my masters in special education and Autism
I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I want to leave the world better than I came into it. I like to do things the way I like to do them, and I wont sacrifice student learning or students feeling a part of things for anything. I love my students and I will do everything in my power to make sure that they are happy, contributing members of society. My staff is wonderful and I am very lucky! I want to change the way special education teachers and general ed teachers work with kids with special needs. I hope to continue to present and be a role model classroom for the new teachers coming in.
