Class Description:
My class is made up of motivated and hard working students. They are all students that have some type of hearing loss that is moderate to profound. Some of them use spoken English and others use sign language to communicate. Some of my students have other learning challenges in addition to their hearing loss. A majority of them are English language learners and come from low income families.

Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Needs:
My students have limited access to technology at home. In this information and technology age I want to develop technology skills that they will need in their future. There are several web-based programs to aid in their learning that we cannot access on a regular basis do to scheduling of our limited resources in our building. I would like to have a class set of Chromebooks for students to be able to extend their learning and enrich our classroom.
My Philosophy:
I believe that all students can be successful, no matter their circumstance. As a teacher I am to facilitate a love of learning, a desire to ask questions and seek answers. I work very hard to insure that all of my students find a level of success and push them to achieve their dreams.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing for 15 years. In that time I have had the opportunity to work with students of pre school age through high school. I have spent the majority of my career teaching middle school age students. They are a high energy group and it is never dull.
College and Degrees:
I am a graduate of Augustana College with a BA in elementary education and deaf education. I have since added certifications in English, Social Studies, and for work with English language learners.
Activities:
I am an active person enjoying the outdoors and sports.

I worked at the South Dakota School for the Deaf before moving to Denver. Since in Denver I have only worked for Denver Public Schools.
