Why I need this:
My classroom is currently made up of 8 wonderful high school students (grades 9-12) that are neuro-diverse. All of my students have autism spectrum disorder as well as intellectual disabilities. Despite the many challenges that my students have faced throughout the last year of distant learning, they have all truly risen to the occasion and have gained technology skills, taken on more responsibility for their learning, and adapted to social distancing, mask wearing, and socializing virtually. With their newly gained technology skills, I would like to continue to provide them frequent opportunities to use technology when we return to in person learning. These Chromebooks would allow my students to practice life skills such as writing emails, completing job applications, and looking up information online. In addition, it provides them access to information above their current reading abilities by allowing them to use read-to-me programs to listen to texts. |
