Class Information:
Room Number: 4
Students per Class: 100/480
Class Description:
I teach Math Intervention to my entire school building which is a population of 480. I operate as a lab setting working with approximately 20 students at a time. Currently I am trying to increase basic skills to help prepare for higher level math.
Position:
Math Teacher
Needs:
In order to help drill and facilitate more kids I wish to upgrade memory in our HP nx9010 laptops so that students can work with math programs. Technology has demonstrated to be a motivating factor in teaching students. Furthermore, battery life in these computers is also poor. New batteries would also be helpful.
My Philosophy:
Math is currently a hated subject by many students in today's society. However, with math being a basis behind time and money students need to connect and recognize its importance. Therefore, with our struggling student population, I find building basic skills builds self esteem which empowers our students to challenge themselves to improve. Finally, connecting students to their daily uses of math helps them become motivated to learn. I have also found technology to be a big motivational factor for students learning because their interaction with technology does not seem defeating like an individual that may correct them.
