I'm one of 6 kindergarten teachers at Nataani Nez Elementary School. I currently have 22 students. 100% are Navajo (Native American). We are also a 100% Free and Reduced lunch school. We're wired and ready to learn!
Position:
Certified teacher
Needs:
It would be wonderful if every teacher in my grade level would have access to digital cameras, color ink and color printers (A year supply would really be awesome!) We personally love to create memory books--- of growth and academic progress.
My personal wish is to have a program that I can load onto my school palm pilot that I can simply touch and it will document behavior problems and print out a documented form. We're a Reading First school and time is limited--how wonderful it would be if I could perform documention for SAT-- quickly!
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am in my 9th year as a kindergarten teacher. I stayed home to raise my own children before I accepted a full-time teaching position. I briefly taught a 1st/2nd grade overflow class before deciding to teach my current grade level. Frankly, teaching kindergarten is as challenging as teaching any other grade level. I enjoy working with my school children because they keep me "young" and I enjoy seeing the tremendous growth at this grade level.

I also enjoy working out at the local hospital weight room.
Favorite Books:
Science fiction books are my favorite
Favorite Quotes:
"The beginning is the most important part of the work."
Plato [427-347B.C.] The Republic
"It's your attitude and not your aptitude that determines your altitude." Zig Ziglar
"It's a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it."
W.Somerset Maugham{1974-1965]
"I'velearned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed."
Booker T. Washington [1856-1915]
Interests:
I've enjoyed landscape painting, Native American beadwork, geneology, sewing for my children, traveling in the USA, softball and volleyball(when I was younger). I had the time of my life preforming with Lamanite Generation while I was in college.
Currently,I love to sing with my church choir and read, when I can.
Why Do I Teach?:
I live and teach on the Navajo Reservation. I currently teach at Eva B. Stokely Elementary. I have been teaching for fifteen years and enjoy working with young Navajo children.
My school is a wonderful place to work. It is beautiful inside and outside because we have four hogans integrated into our architecture.
