Standard Digital Camera Lab, $2799.00, 1.36% raised
Standard Digital Camera Lab Rank:
Single Unit Why I need this:
Our school would like to begin a newspaper and yearbook. At this time we have 3 out-of-date cameras that eat up batteries. With this camera lab, we will be able to involve the whole school, from PreK to 6th grade. We would be able to involve students in the use of 21st Century tools. We would also be able to expand our after school enrichment program to include a newspaper club and enhance our tech club.

Chicago, IL
Class Information:
Room Number: 204
Students per Class: 29
Class Description:
I have a classroom where 98% of my students are considered low income. There is a large Hispanic population where most students are ELL. I have 4 Special Needs students and 3 RtI students. We are a happy classroom where I try to make learning interesting and engaging.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
At this time, I am in need of any digital tools I can get. Laptops, cameras, color printer, iPads, Smartboard, or software.
My Philosophy:
I believe that every child is capable of learning. By creating a safe, comfortable and caring environment, children are able to grow academically, emotionally, and physically. They can set goals and dream big. It is important to me that all children feel apart of the classroom community where all thoughts and concerns are important. I believe in providing lessons that include opportunities for rigorous work and student engagement. In my class there is no such thing as failure, everything is a learning experience.

Why Do I Teach?:
I have been teaching in the inner city of Chicago for over 20 years. I have taught from Pre-K through 6th grade and have enjoyed it. I never get tired of seeing my students grow and enjoy learning. It is awesome when students you have taught years earlier contact you to say, "Thanks Mrs. Cantu. You really mad a difference in my life." I was recently invited to one of my former student's wedding. Imagine that!
