Class Information:
Class Description:
I teach a computer skills class for 2nd through 5th graders. There are just over 100 students in each grade. My students are excited about learning the ins and outs of the computer. I try to teach them computer basics as well as how to use various programs on the computers. I show the students that there is almost always more than one way to accomplish a given task. We are a small AA school and have very limited resources, but we do the best we can!!
Position:

Needs:
Digital cameras, podcasting equipment, and software are our main needs at this time. We do have a few cameras, but they are dated and in high demand.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I am married and have one son who is a sophmore at Buna High School. I love to learn and have recently completed my teaching degree.
College and Degrees:
I have attended Lamar State College - Orange and Lamar University - Beaumont. I graduated from Lamar University at the top of my class, earning a 4.0 GPA. I received the Otis Plummer Award and the Top Female Education Graduate Award. I hold an Ec-4 Generalist Certificate, a Technology Applications EC-12 Certificate, and a Texas Public Librarian Certificate.
Activities:
I am very active in the school and community. I am the Vice-President of the Band Booster Club, and am a past Board Member for the Buna Public Library. My family and I work extensively with the CASA program, which helps advocate for abused children. I am also very active in my church, where my husband and I help lead the youth group, participate in Bible Quiz Tournaments, and teach Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Interests:
I love to read, work puzzles of any kind, and spend time with my family. We love to go hiking, bird-watching, and traveling. We are currently planning atrip to the Grand Canyon for November 2007. I love to share photos of the places we visit with my classes, for I know that many of my students may never have the chance to see some places for themselves.
Employment History:
I have been employed with Buna ISD working at the elementary school for the last nine years. I was originally hired as a Library Aide. I took over as Librarian after two years. In June 2002, I went back to school and earned my Bachelor's Degree in InterdisciplinaryStudies (EC-4). I am currently the Elementary Librarian, teach the Computer Skills class, and am the Campus Computer Technician.
Why Do I Teach?:
I love children, and I love to learn. I think students need to have every opportunity to learn, and I want to help them have those opportunities!
