Class Information:
Position:
Science Teacher
Needs:
After 18 years teaching at the same high school, I am moving to a new school next year. I will be starting over in terms of technology. At my old school, I had recently received an LCD projector and a SmartBoard and was quickly learning many exciting ways to incorporate these tools into my teaching. But of course, I don't get to take these devices with me! Too, this school year I have encouraged those students who have them to bring digital cameras to class to photograph things through the microscope eyepiece--cheek cells, plant cells, protists, etc. Some made daily photographic records of their planaria regeneration experiments. Some used cameras to document different examples of plant tropisms. Unfortunately, many students don't have cameras. A class set of cameras would be a great tool for use by my biology students.

Why Do I Teach?:
I want to share my enthusiasm for learning--and especially for science--with my students. I want them to be exposed to many different experiences, as you never know what will spark their interest. I love working with kids. They all have their own special gifts; they're just not always aware of them. Teachers are challenged to help kids find their own special abilities.
