Class Description:
I am the technology teacher at a school that services special needs students from k-5. Our students are in a district 75 school, which means they have severe disabilites. We call ourselves the spectrum school- which means we work hard to have a dynamic and reflective organization that comprehensively meets the needs of our students- Special Populations Creatively Through Rigor Understanding and Motivation.
Position:
technology teacher
Needs:
Our students have many needs for an alternative curriculum, many of them being below grade level in their education or needing support services of communication, OT, PT, speech, counseling, life skills.. etc. With the help of technology, we can provide necessary support to students on multiple modalities and help them to function as better members of society.
My Philosophy:
Our school believes that we must offer every student the opportunity to: develop high self-esteem, become a responsible citizen and achieve academic excellence. We provide rigorous curriculum, along with positive behavior supports, and technology, which mirrors the general education curriculum.
