My Philosophy:
It is most important to grab the children and expose them to as many forms of creativity possible while they are still young and have no fear of trying the "unknown". Technology is already in every aspect of their lives, and it is vital they are familiar with and have the capabilities to utilize all the different forms of technology necessary to be successful in their education and their present lives, as well as their future lives and careers.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been a teacher for 27 years. I have taught elementary multi-arts for the majority of those years, but I also taught first grade and fourth grade. I was also a fine arts coordinator for three years, and worked as a national art consultant for a national publishing company.
College and Degrees:
B.S. Elementary Education; Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, LA Masters in Elementary Education; Texas A&M - Commerce in Commerce, TX Certified in all-level ART in state of Texas
Activities:
Mixed-media artist creating journals and collages, "dumpster-diving"in search of the next great treasure; attending estate sales, shopping, cane-pole fishing; fly fishing; theatre, and enjoying time with my family doing whatever it takes to be with them.
Favorite Books:
Don't have time to read "grown-up's" books, but do have a huge collection of children's books that I utilize in my classroom.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach art because it is the one class where every child can be successful. The ability to create is the one thing children can take with them through life that will make them feel accepted, happy, unique, and most of all, successful. There are NO mistakes in art. There are NO wrong answers in art. Art speaks all languages, and sees all colors.
