Stafford Middle School
Hometown:
From the South, but CT for 14 years now.
Class Information:
Room Number: 100
Students per Class: 25
Class Description:
I have a group of rural school students that live in a beautiful countryside area of Northeast Connecticut. I see them struggle with socioeconomic situations or home life situations that or not ideal, but they are eager to learn and want to be noticed. Many students live on farms and work with their hands and they really enjoy sports.
Position:
Art teacher
Needs:
Social support, mentors, financial needs, the school needs copy paper and more tablets and computers for students to use. Many of the students have ADHD or behavior plans, they need additional support that technology can assist with.
My Philosophy:
I am only one person with large class sizes and I recognize that it takes a village to raise a child. I am a mother, teacher, artist and role model to my students. I have traveled the world and understand the importance of being part of a global society that can work together to improve education, creativity and the lives of those around me. I want to provide interdisciplinaryeducational opportunities for my learners. I see the diverse skills and needs of my students and want to bridge them by sharing my knowledge, skills, and abilities to scaffold their prior knowledge. I want to teach art through diverse process-learning approaches, all resulting in outcomes of quality and integrity. I want to focus on Big ideas and self directed learning with a inquiry based model of education that fosters research, discovery, and critical thinking. I seek to be reflective in my teaching practice and desire positive social change in my community.
