About Me:
[About Mrs. Mills]
My name is Sofia Mills and I am going on my seventh year with Kaneland teaching literature and communication skills. I am a graduate of Aurora University with a Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2007. I am also an alumni of Northern Illinois University in which I attained a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in History. I have had the pleasure of working with children of all ages. In addition, I have taught classes of science, gifted literature, and social studies.
I am fortunate to have a supportive and loving family which includes my devoted husband, daughter, son, dog, and cat. I love learning and I am eager to encourage students to become self-motivated, independent, life-long learners.
Through all the experiences that I have encountered along with extensive study in educating school age children and adolescents, I am excited to enhance the student body with a positive and rewarding academic experience.
The following are a few goals that I have for the upcoming academic year at KHMS:
* Establish a positive learning environment.
* Develop both class and personal goals for academic and social aspects of learning.
* Cover necessary curriculum to prepare for further grade levels.
* Develop open communication among all involved in the learning environment (parents, students, administration, community members, and myself).
* Provide methods of learning in a variety of ways, so that creativity and critical thinking skills are enhanced.
