Sophomores learn world literature and culture; juniors learn Advanced Placement English Language and Composition; and sophomores through seniors learn skills in journalism and broadcast in my journalism course. I have a Promethean board and projector as well as two newer iMacs. My five IBMs are outdated. My students and I are creative with our broadcast creation that we present to the school weekly.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
My broadcast crew is in need of news-quality cameras, microphones, lighting, and computer programs. Currently, we use iMovie - a program that is good, but limited. My crew could also use some newer digital still cameras for capturing sports, school events, and other important shots.
My Philosophy:
All students deserve to have an education enriched with experiences that teach them how to work together, work creatively, think "outside the box," and become culturally literate. Too often, with the constraints of the school system or the budget and technology, students miss out on opportunities to compete with other school systems or global communities.
