Class Description:
My class is made up of 6 students in K, 2nd, and 5th grade. They are the most amazing kiddos I know. Our program is titled "Cognitive Disability-Severe/OtherHeath Impaired/Autism" but CDS for short. My students have a range of needs including communication, physical and behavioral. We also have a great staff that truly cares for these kiddos and recognizes them to be the children and little miracles that they are.

Needs:
Our classroom is always in need of items that can be controlled by a single switch. We are also big fans of anything that lights up, moves, or sings. We have a 'multi-sensory room' that the students love but at the moment we really need some things to make it more student-driven and interesting to ALL our kiddos.
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is that ALL kiddos deserve to be included, cared for tenderly, loved, and LEARN!

About Me:
I have been in education for 7 years now but just started as a special education teacher mid-year 08-09. I began in my current district as a paraprofesional and started working toward my special education license soon after.
Activities:
I also coach JV girls tennis in the fall.
Favorite Books:
My favorite book is The Giver but my favorite book to read with my students at school is Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
Why Do I Teach?:
It's all about the kids! I LOVE my students and get so excited when we are able to experience new things together. They are truly miracle children and every day is such a gift.
