Antelope Elementary School
Class Information:
Room Number: Room 11
Students per Class: 26
Class Description:
We are an amazingly creative group of first graders with an appetite for technology. Some of us walk and play video games on the way into our classroom each morning, scrolling from screen to screen on our parent's cell phones. Wouldn't it be great if we discovered ways to utilize technology for enriching our learning experiences?
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
We are in need of all things related to technology. Our sparse population of desktops at the back of the room is the only technology we have at this time. We would like to bring technology front and center to prepare our students for the future job market and method of learning and assessment. I look forward to partnering with you in this adventure!
My Philosophy:
My philosophy is that all students can learn. Clearly we all have different rates of learning, learning styles, and preferences. I believe that using technology within the classroom will assist in creating a stimulating learning environment that meets the needs of all of our students from the most gifted to the students in need of an accelerated pace or those who need special care and multiple exposures to a concept to make it a part of their own learning. I hope you'll join me in meeting the needs of all of our students and help them make their educational goals a reality this year!
Personal Information:
About Me:
Teaching has been a blast for the past ten years and in that time, I've experienced the grade spans K-8, worked in public and private, and worked in two different states. WOW! What an experience that has been and how fortunate for me. I feel truly blessed!I've gained such a perspective that can only come with witnessing first-hand the deficits that can occur if certain foundational skills are not met early on. Conversely, I've been able to witness first-hand the amazing goals that can be achieved with a strong foundation early on.
College and Degrees:
Bachelors in Liberal Studies Masters in Curriculum and Instruction CaliforniaCLEAR M.S. Credential KentuckyMultiple Subject Credential
Favorite Books:
Well, this section would take a long time! I think I'll need to write a blog article on that one and post it on MyReadyReaders@gmail.com.
Favorite Quotes:
"If you think you can do a thing or can't do a thing, you're right." ~Henry Ford "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave. ~ Calvin Coolidge
Why Do I Teach?:
Is there anything nourishing to the soul than to watch a young person realize they can use the skills learned in school to discover new information and then use that information to enrich their own life, the lives of their family, and the community at large? There may be, but I've not found it. This is why I teach. I teach so that I may assist students in navigating the world of learning and education, helping them to create scholarly habits at an early age, and plant the seeds that I hope will grow into a lifetime love and habit of reading. This is why I teach.
