Class Description:
I teach four technology classes daily. ICT1, which is an introduction to technology where students learn basic skills such as typing and use of word processing programs and presentation media. ICT2 is the second phase of ICT where students learn more indept knowledge of computers such as networking, using graphics software, creating and using databases in various programs, creating webpages and introduction to basic CAD programs.

Needs:
Our classroom would love to have a version of Adobe Creative Suites that includes photo shop, dreamweaver, and flash studios. We currently have to do our webpage creating the old fashioned way using wordpad and HTML coding. Dreamweaver would be so great when we create our webpages. Also, when creating and editing photos for our websites and our industry logos, photo shop would be a handy tool to use. My social studies classroom would love to have a class set of iPads or similar devices where we can use the learning apps and use as response devices. These would stay in the classroom for student use and be available for other teachers in my building to utilize as tools.
My Philosophy:
Students are blank slates when I get them in terms of how to effectively use techonolgy. It is my job to teach them how to use various technological tools to better their education and further their achievments. Whether we as a society like it or not, the future in education is moving with technological advancements. We serve as facilitators with educating our students rather than traditional lecture classrooms. Students need room to explore and learn. Technology provides students with the ability and the resource to bring what once was only seen in textbooks to virtual reality.

Why Do I Teach?:
I love what I do and seeing the faces of my students when they achieve their "Ah-Ha" moment of understanding and connecting. People have no idea how much teachers influence the lives of the students they teach. Because I teach in a low socio-economic area, most of my students have never been exposed to the type of technology that I introduce them to. It is amazing to see them embrace the different uses that technology can offer them.
