Class Description:
My class is very technologically set. We cannot afford SmartBoards so I have created and use the SmoothBoard with software, Wii-mote, and IR-pen. We have a few computers (3) that students can use for their online homework and quizzes/tests.
Position:
Science Teacher
Needs:
We would like to have more technology to help students advance in their use and understanding of science and technology in their world.
My Philosophy:
Students need to work and need to see how everything works together. Teaching isn't a process of talking about something, teaching is taking what we know, relating it to what they know, and helping them build on that.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I have been teaching for 4 years, different levels of science. Currently, and for the entirety of the 4 years, I have always taught at least one class of Physical Science.
College and Degrees:
I graduated from ECU with my B.S. of Science Education, and am currently working towards my Masters in Science Education.
Activities:
I am the head wrestling coach, head adviser for the ASL (American Sign Language) Club, co-adviser for the Science National Honor Society, and working to obtain my National Board Certification
Favorite Books:
I like science books
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach as a way to work with the youth in an effort to better educate individuals in science, showing them that science doesn't only happen in labs, but in their everyday life
