I work with about an average of 10 IEP students in the 7th grade.
Position:
Teacher Associate for 7th grade
Needs:
The needs that I see are technology that will create ways for those students to learn on their level. Every students learns at a different level and a different pace. Any technology would grant one of these students the gift of learning. My school provides the basics for the general population. These special education students have to 'make do' with what we have.
My Philosophy:
Teaching kids to want to learn is the huge piece. Instead of helping these kids with homework, I try and teach them skills to be more independent and to teach them ways on how to get the most out of their education. "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man how to fish, he eats for a lifetime." I feel that is my job to teach my students to fish for a lifetime.

Why Do I Teach?:
I get lots of joy everyday being around these kids. I know that this is what God put me on this earth to do. I enjoy working with students who may struggle. It is my job to make sure that they "fit in" the best that they can and be successful. I try everyday to get the most out of each student that I come in contact with. I tell my students that if no one cares at home, I do care! I want to teach them to have some self worth and value themselves! With the students I work with, self worth is a huge goal that I want them all to try and reach. If I can teach these students to value their education then that will create successful adults!
