Why I need this:
I work at a Title 1 DC Public School in SW Washington D.C. My School is labeled a 40/40 school, meaning that it is one of the lowest 40 public schools in DC, and most high need. 100 percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school is gravely underfunded and under resourced, however, my students are expected to compete with students in other high-income and highly resourced schools across the district.
Many of our blended learning programs, particularly in math, require students to have daily access to technology to complete their online lessons that provide them with additional and needed practice to support teacher-led lessons. Despite the expectation that our students receive time on these programs daily, our school does not have the technology necessary to provide our students with these experiences, and instead heavily relies on donations. |
