Class Information:

Students per Class: 5 classes of 8 students daily
Class Description:
My students attend adapted music class once per week for 40 minutes. They have severe cognitive and sometimes physical disabilities. Some students are orthopedically handicapped and medically fragile.
Position:
Special Education Music
Needs:
I must provide a variety of musical experiences including singing (or responding to teacher-led singing), playing small hand-held percussion instruments, with assistance when needed, moving (such as clapping, dancing, marching, and moving wheel chairs), and active listening
My Philosophy:
Students with disabilities can be engaged best through multi-sensory, interactive experiences.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I will be starting my 9th year of teaching students with disabilities here at my school. I was named Teacher of the Year for the 2015 - 2016 school year.
College and Degrees:
I recently received my Master's degree from Anderson University. I completed extensive research pertaining to the inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities in the general elementary music class.
Activities:
I participate in a state-wide women's choir called SeraphSong. I am also a minister of music at a small church.
