Class Information:
Room Number: 157

Class Description:
I teach two 8th Grade Science classes, and four 6th Grade Science classes. Many of my students suffer hardship in one form or another, but come to class eager to learn and curious about where we are going next in science. Since I'm a middle school teacher I have 6 classes and many students to get to know and guide as they learn. We are fortunate to have a classroom just inside of the school garden, and work in the garden regularly. The students are glad to have any opportunities for hands-on learning experiences and clearly find our classroom a place for exploring the wide world of science.
Position:
Science Teacher
Needs:
We have been integrating our science lessons with technology, but are limited by funding. We do have access to a PC lab, and use basic programs for work. One example of making the most of our technology resources is our participation as a precipitation station for CoCoRhas, a national weather service. I would like to further integrate technology into our lessons with more resources. I have been trained to use cameras and other digital items, but do not have the funding to make them available.
My Philosophy:
I believe that students learn best with active authentic learning experiences. I like to bring the students to the world, or bring the world into the classroom. They are much more engaged and observant when they are actively involved with the materials.
