I teach 3 blocks of 6th grade math classes. Student abilities range from 2 to 3 grade levels below and above. Our district just purchased a new math series that relies heavily on technology and is correlated to the new common core standards.
Position:
6th grade math teacher
Needs:
My school district recently purchased a new math series that is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and relies heavily on technology. Computer technology is the main component of this math series. Having tablets in the classroom will provide my students with the opportunity to access intervention activities that are a part of their math series. Integrating tablets into the class can be used to differentiate activities to meet the needs of various learners at their level. QR codes, websites, math apps, Kahn Academy, and math games are some of the various activities that kids can engage in with such technology.
BillNye sums it up, "We need to harness that power -- the ability to share knowledge -- and make it available to students anytime and anywhere. We also need to meet them where they are in this digital age, so they can be excited about learning each and every day."
Donationsof tablets will improve classroom learning by providing engaging and differentiated activities to meet the needs of each of the various levels of the learners in my classroom. The implementation of the tablets, such as in our learning stations, will make the students much more excited.
