When is the last time you learned something new? I mean actual facts about topics that interest you, not just something related to work. Well, in my classroom, my students are always motivated to learn something new. I teach second grade in a low-income, Title 1 school. My classroom is quite diverse, but one thing that we all have in common is our willingness to learn. Currently in second grade, my students are faced with the daily stress of performing well in school. They need to pass nine week assessment, end of the year assessment in order to be successful in the third grade. If I remember correctly, when I was in second grade I enjoyed school and learning. Now, my students are constantly stressing over learning things geared towards the state tests and not for their own enjoyment. I want to make a change in my classroom and give my students the ability and chance to learn about any topic that interests them, even if it doesn't relate to the "tests".
Position:
teacher
Needs:
My solution is to fill my classroom with technology equipment and activities, so that everywhere my students look there will be opportunities to expand their knowledge on many different topics. The more technology will allow me to teach my students how to read correctly and understand what they are learning through hand on materials. The students be able to be grouped using technology will allow my students to interact with each other and talk about what they are learning. The activity sets, both for comprehension, listening, writing reports, will help guide my students through the different genre. All of these materials will be essential for my students to learn something new and interesting. The students will be able to create “booklet” or “memory” that they can use to expand through knowledge
My Philosophy:
I believe that all "Children" should enjoy learning. The most opporunity that a child has to learn the better they will be. I want to take this time to thank you in advance for your generosity. I know I may be asking for a lot, but these items will make an enormous difference in my students' learning. I can already picture the excitement on their faces when they are able to teach others what they are learning, as well as go home and teach their families something new.
