Class Description:
My 7th and 8th grade minority, low-income, C average students have not had college-going tradition in their families. In order to prepare my students for college they are placed in advanced classes and I provide the academic support needed in order to prepare them for college eligibility and success as part of our AVID (Advancement Via individual Determination) program.
Needs:
My students are in need of technology that will challenge and encourage them to succeed and compete with students who have had more opportunities to develop a college bound mentality.
My Philosophy:
Motivate and guide students to higher learning.

Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I am addicted to that "AHA" moment. The moment when one of my students "gets it" - an improved mark on a math test, turns in all homework assignments on time, or is excited about going to college and realizes that he/she can participate in rigorous course work to obtain their education.
